Non-adhesive PDLC Film is the original type (standard type) PDLC film, this film is mainly designed to sandwich laminated between 2 layers of glass in order to make a final switchable PDLC glass product. It’s a middle material to be processed into the final switchable glass product. It is also called Smart Glass Film, Switchable Smart Film, Privacy Glass Film, PDLC Film, Magic Glass Film, Electronic Film, etc. When power is on it becomes transparent, when power is off it becomes opaque.

Working Principle
PDLC (polymer dispersed liquid crystal) film is a light-modulating medium whose light scattering is adjustable by applying an electric field. When power is off, visible light scatters through the PDLC, and the film turns opaque; when power is on, visible light transmits the PDLC and the film turns clear.

Transparency Changes With Voltage Linearly
The smart film transparency will change when you dim control its voltage, closer to 0V voltage, it will be more opaque; And when closer to Rated voltage(60V), it will be more clear and transparent.
How to laminate PDLC Film into smart PDLC glass:
To well protect the PDLC film and let it a long time to work, especially in an environment with much moisture, we suggest the customer use non-adhesive smart film to be sandwich laminated between 2 layers of glass.
Choosing to purchase our lamination smart film and have a local glass company create the final products (smart glass). This method cuts down on shipping costs and potential loss due to breakage vs purchasing our finished glass when a dealer is not nearby.
